pretty...please

one of my lovely friends, ginny, is the most creative baker i know. this is a picture she recently posted on her blog, razzel. dazzle. how cute would this be for an ity wedding cake?! right now we are debating whether or not to do an hor d'ovres reception or possibly just a dessert reception. this cake would be all we would need. i am constantly looking at the flat icing, plain-jane, simple cake style (see inspiration board), but this is so cute! white would be perfect!

ginny, i know you are already helping with the invitations, the flowers (which we will discuss on here later since neither of us know how to do them!), and overall moral support, but do you think you can squeeze in a wedding cake??

not just for cheerleaders

i am seriously thinking about doing these in white for the reception. i love the paper lantern look, but i am so over it. this is another inexpensive alternative that has a similar feel. i'm picturing a few different sizes of white puffy ones. do you think they look cheesy? i love martha's ideas, but i want to stay fresh. will this be the new paper lantern in a year??

DIY Poms

You'll need tissue paper and 24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire.

Hanging Pom-Poms
1. Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.

3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

4. Tie a length of monofilament to floral wire for hanging.

ahhhhhhh, it's all coming together....

this is the first time i have ever made an inspiration board! i have been saving pictures from different blogs (sorry if i used one of your pictures! i'm still new to this and i have no idea how to give credit. honestly, i can't remember where they all came from now anyway.) and websites that i LOVE. these are the colors for my wedding. i actually made two different boards. the first one with my real dress - it's GORGEOUS- and this one with a fakie. i originally wanted to use navy and magenta, but quickly learned after lots of research that that color scheme was far from unique. i'm not sure that navy and purple is that much more CRAAAZZY, but i love it and that's all that matters! ;P
let me know what you think!

Fiesty

i know this song is a bee gees remake, but i love it so much! the chorus verse is so poetic, "i'm the girl that loves you inside and out. backwards and fowards with my heart hanging out."
i wish this song were wedding appropriate b/c it makes me want to dance.

here goes nothin!

after reading countless beautiful, inspiring, and addictive blogs written by everyday people, I thought, "well, i might as well jump in too!" will i be any good at this? we'll see.. will anyone even read it? i would be surprised. at the very least i will have a place where i can write my thoughts.
lil bit bout me:
  • i travel almost weekly for my job. this means i have LOTS of free time to play on the web (aka stay up late, have 5 pages open at any given time, look at every wedding blog i can possibly find and plan the most perfect wedding (is that even possible?))
  • my youngest sis just moved in with me and i couldn't be happier about it!!!!!! my fiance wants to move in around feb. i'll be sad when she leaves. not b/c i don't want to live with him, but b/c this time with her has been priceless.
  • i also hate using the shift key.
  • i am in love with this flower. they are a must for my navy / purple wedding.
oh yea, i called this urban heirloom b/c i am using mostly heirlooms for my wedding, yet i love a sleek modern look as well. it's such a wonderful juxtaposition. don't ya think?
