if my grandmother only had email...

i would send her this picture immediately b/c she has this EXACT cape. i really would love to borrow it for the wedding. not the actual ceremony and not even for the reception. probably just the little itty-bitty send off! no big deal, right? i've tried it on and it's perfect with the dress, however she acted very reluctant to my borrowing it. i need something "borrowed" though anyway! sheesh.

Trend Watch: Wrist Corsage Bracelets – Romance in Bloom

this article proves i might be onto something!! mindy sent me some pictures with bridesmaides wearing corsages (see above). i've been searching for pictures online, but i'm coming up empty. i'll attach a few though... i think i need to meet with a florist and see if they can create what i am picturing.

suit up

this wonderfully, tailored suit on the right is from j.crew. i have been telling chris we need to start looking at some suits for his wedding attire. both j.crew and banana republic have these 60's inspired looks. i LOVE it. the guys are wearing navy. i could care less if they all match or not. i just want to see chris in one of these. bonus: they have tall sizes (he has some looong arms!).

flower perfection

i found (stole) the first picture from east side bride. yes, i'm obsessed with her blog. these are my favorite flowers as of july 2008 (i.e. when i got engaged and started researching flowers). they are called anemones. i first saw them in a martha stewart wedding mag used in a bouquet. it was stunning. the one above is similar.
lately i've been thinking more and more about corsages. i know people are going to think i am crazy when they read this, but something about it is kind of glamorous. i'm not a bouquet kind of girl, so if i hold flowers i want them to be unassuming. i'm going to start searching for non-prom corsage-y pictures. maybe i'm being silly.

Bridal Style

i saw these pictures on ashley's bride guide and just fell in love with the style! this website is for nashville brides and it has proven to be a handy resource in learning about different local vendors. i LOVE the bridesmaids' outfits! i'm assuming they are separates. the colors would be perfect for my wedding too. don't you just love the second picture?! it's so retro. it looks like it could have been taken in the 60's. love love love.

the hunt for purple heels

i really want to find purple or navy heels for my wedding. i have been searching online for "purple shoes" and came across these beauties. the first pair is the least expensive and might be my favorite. although, they might not be wedding-y enough. i can totally see them with jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses and everything in between though ;) the last pair is the most expensive, but my sisters swears the brand is extremely comfortable. apparently, it is all nicole miller wears (my sis is her assistant). i definitely want some killer heels and would LOVE not to spend a small fortune. which ones do you all like? any other suggestions?

sweet sounds

i think i'm going to walk down the "isle" to this song. the words are so beautiful. i'm thinking about actually playing it over speakers. otis' voice sings it so soulfully. i'm not sure anyone else could do it justice.

rhinestones and glamour

i am trying to decide how to style my hair for the wedding. i can't decide if i should do a loose bun or maybe put one side up kind of retro style. i know i want to use a vintage inspired (or real vintage!) rhinestone comb. i googled rhinestone combs and found headpiece heaven. i was hoping i could find some on etsy that aren't too expensive. has anyone run across any? anyone have any ideas about how to style their hair. pictures would be helpful! i am ditching the veil, but i still want to look polished.... my dress goes with the glamour, vintage theme ;)

home makeover

right now i am in the midst of updating my house. i am so nitpicky (is that a word?) when it comes to changing anything. i have to think about it for months sometimes! recently, i had shelves in front of my large living room window that had been there for 5 years. it was brought to my attention that perhaps if the shelves were removed, then there would be much more space and light in the room. sooooo, i begrudgingly took down the shelves piece by piece the other night. instead of putting my favorite books and items in the attic i decided to re-do the built-in shelves that connect my living room with my kitchen. the picture above is the final product. it's very colorful, but it seems to work well. i would show pictures of the window without the other shelves, but i am still working on finding the perfect curtains, rods, etc...
i wish i had a before picture!
